My endeavor to the sweet state of Mississippi is almost over. Throughout my six days of adventures I have encountered numerous culture shocks that shook this small town girl’s world. From being exposed to new foods, to being taught on how to correctly pronounce words. I feel so vulnerable to change. Like rice to China, or cheese curds to Wisconsin — Grits are a dietary staple here in Mississippi (or maybe the entirety of the South below the Mason-Dixon Line…I’ll let you know once my pocket book allows for more travel.) Grits with cheese, butter, shrimp and almost anything you can dream of. Grits for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and for a snack. I’ve actually grown to like them. I can’t say the same about the heat. The summers in Mississippi average a temperature of around 90º — just a tad too hot for me. With that being said,
Dear Mississippi: Adios, Adieu, Auf Wiedersehen, Farvel, Beannacht, Goodbye. Until next time
