Cinnamon Applesauce

Cinnamon Applesauce is the PERFECT fall dish. Plus this recipe will make your house smell wonderful!  The majority of the time that goes into this is the general preparation time of peeling and chopping the apples. Other variations may say that you don’t need to peel the apples, but I have found that the applesauce has that traditional texture when it is fully peeled.  Chopping the apples into the smallest possible pieces quickens the process.  In the video you will see I chopped them into moderately small pieces…I could have gone through at least one more time (I was slightly time crunched.) I hand picked both Red Delicious apples and McIntosh apples from Door Creek Orchard to make this tasty, two ingredient recipe. Each apple included will yield one small dish of applesauce – the more the merrier.

Ingredient List:

  • 6-8 medium-sized apples
  • 4 tablespoons of ground cinnamon

  1. Peel/skin apples
  2. Chop apples into small 1/2 inch pieces
  3. Put chopped pieces into the crock pot
  4. Add cinnamon (do this to taste, while the recipe may call for 4 tablespoons, feel free to add more)
  5.  With a medium-sized spoon mix the chopped apples and cinnamon together
  6. Cover and cook on ‘High’ for  5 hours
